PRF in Fort Worth and Keller, TX
What is PRF?
Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) utilizes the body's own healing capabilities by drawing your blood, then concentrating platelets and growth factors, which are then injected back into the scalp to promote hair growth. The following growth factors work together to stimulate hair follicle stem cells, increase blood flow and oxygenation, promote hair growth and reduce shedding:
Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF)
Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)
Transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β)
Epidermal growth factor (EGF)
PRF vs PRP What's the difference?
PRP (Platelet-rich plasma) and PRF (Platelet-rich fibrin) are both derived from a patient's blood and used for regenerative treatments. PRP was the original application, whereas PRF takes the process one step further by removing the anti-coagulant and spinning the blood at a slower RPM. THis allows for a rich fibrin matrix to which provides a scaffold for cell growth and tissue repair. PRF also tends to release growth factors more slowly and sustainably, potentially leading to longer-lasting effects.
What factors can affect my results?
While PRF utilizes the body's natural healing potential, there are limitations to consider:
Variable blood quality: Differences in platelet count, growth factor levels, and overall blood health can impact treatment efficacy.
Dietary influences: Nutritional deficiencies or fluctuations can affect treatment outcomes.
Hydration levels: Adequate hydration is crucial for optimal blood quality and treatment response.
Inconsistent product: Since PRF is derived from the patient's own blood, each treatment session may yield varying results due to differences in blood composition.
These factors can contribute to variability in treatment outcomes, highlighting the importance of maintaining overall health and discussing individual concerns with a healthcare provider.
