While they both target reds, browns and sun-damage, the technology, safety and downtime are significantly different.
Technology: IPL/BBL are a broad-spectrum light devices (not a true laser) and truly pioneers in the aesthetic industry. But similar to an iPhone4, technology has advanced dramatically. ADVA TX is a sophisticated laser system (589nm and 1319nm wavelengths) that targets skin concerns with nearly zero downtime.
Skin Tone Compatibility: ADVA TX is suitable for all skin tones, including darker skin, whereas traditional IPL/BBL is generally recommended for lighter skin types.
Comfort: IPL/BBL feels like a bright rubber band snap. ADVA TX is described as a warm sensation - no topical numbing needed.
Downtime: IPL/BBL treatments cause 2-3 days of redness, occasional bruising, and coffee ground spots. ADVA TX targets vascular lesions, leaving a subtle grey area and subtle changes in brown spots as they fade. Makeup can be applied immediately, but many prefer to show off the glossy glow from the treatment!
